Tribogenics Scientists Present Two Papers on Breakthrough X-Ray Technology at SPIE Optics and Photonics Show in San Diego

Producing X-rays from friction – Los Angeles-based innovator discusses new technique on day two of the annual industry gathering

LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 15, 2015 –X-ray technology innovator Tribogenics announced today that two of its top scientists have been invited to discuss the company’s breakthrough new X-ray technology at the annual SPIE Optics and Photonics conference in San Diego next month. Dr. Carlos Camara, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Tribogenics, will present a paper on day two of the conference entitled “A Novel Technique for Producing X-rays for XRF, Industrial, Scientific and Medical Purposes.” In addition, Dr. Eli Van Cleve will present a paper entitled “A Triboelectric Closed Loop Band System for the Generation of X-Rays.”

Since its inception in 2011, Tribogenics has improved its X-ray technology by six orders of magnitude. In June, the company commercialized its first X-ray product, a handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) instrument that performs nondestructive elemental analysis of all metal alloys for positive material identification (PMI), scrap metal recycling, and QA/QC manufacturing at a fraction of the cost of conventional X-ray technology.
